Introduction

Step Assist is an AI-powered feature in Flowingly designed to help users quickly understand the progress of an active workflow and complete their assigned tasks with ease. It synthesises previous workflow data into a clear summary and provides tailored recommendations for the current step.

Prerequisites

This feature is only available for use in active workflows.

Instructions

When participating in an active workflow, you can access the Step Assist tab alongside other workflow details such as Completed Steps, Comments, Flow Model, and Flow Tags.

The Step Assist tab provides two key insights:

  1. Summary: A concise overview of all completed steps and key data collected in the workflow up to the current point.

  1. Recommendation: Guidance on how to complete the current step based on the workflow context and business logic.

How to Use Step Assist in an Active Workflow

Open an active workflow step assigned to you or navigate to an in-progress workflow. In the left panel, click on the Step Assist tab.

Click the Generate button. Once generated, review the generated sections:

  • Summary: Recaps key inputs, submitters, and previous steps.

  • Recommendation: Highlights pending choices, required fields, or advisory suggestions to guide your decision.

Note: All recommendations provided by Step Assist are advisory only. Users remain responsible for reviewing details and making the final workflow decisions.

Restricting AI Step Assist (Administrators & Process Authors)

If a workflow contains sensitive or confidential information, process authors can disable Step Assist for all instances of that flow model.

To restrict AI Step Assist:

  1. Open the workflow modeler and click Publish Workflow.

  2. In the Publish Workflow window, locate the Confidentiality section.

  3. Check the box for Restrict AI Step Assist ("Prevents AI summaries and suggestions from running workflows of this flow model").

  4. Click Publish Changes.

When enabled, the Step Assist tab will be hidden from users participating in in-progress workflows for that model.
